Born in the beauty industry, Tippy has revolutionized the way salons and spas handle tips. Growing up with a mom who did hair and later working in the industry himself, Tippy Founder, Terry McKim, was no stranger to tip culture. While there were different tip methods available for businesses to adopt, all of them seemed to require a sacrifice by either the business owner, service professional, or client; only accepting cash inconvenienced clients and caused service professionals to miss out on tips; allowing tips on credit cards cost the owner extra processing fees and felt impersonal for clients; tipping through mobile payments apps required clients to have an app and provided no transparency for business owners.

Terry decided there had to be a better option, and when he discovered there wasn’t one, he teamed up with his brother-in-law and current Tippy CEO, David Tashjian, and the rest, as they say, is history.
